SYA – Single Young Adults

The Single Young Adults weekend is our parish-based spiritual group that caters to the needs of single adults between the ages of 21·39. It focuses on strengthening their relationships with Jesus by building relationships within the Christian Community or parish. By building a sense of community, SYA hopes to bring Jesus into the hectic lifestyles of today’s young Catholics. SYA currently has over 280 members.

As part of the recent Lenten celebration on Black Saturday, a group of more than 30 volunteers of the Single Young Adults (SYA) joined together to answer the call to share God’s love to a hundred selected residents of the Taguig City Jail (TCJ).

LC: It was my first time to go to the jail and spend time with the residents inside. I was actually excited because it was one of the first few SYA activities that I attended after joining the recent 29th SYA Weekend Retreat. Read the full story…

29th SYA Weekend Retreat

By Mara Boquiren

People find themselves attending our retreat for different reasons. Many come to deepen or restore their relationship with God. Others are there to find respite, gain clarity, or join a faith family. Some were compelled by a friend or relative to be there. Whatever their reason for joining, they finish the retreat consistently receiving far more than they hoped for. Read the full story…

“JOURNEYING IN FAITH THROUGH SYA”
By Johan Ferrer

I found out about the SYA Weekend reading its simple and straightforward announcement on the parish bulletin board 11 years ago. Back then, my relationship with God was through daily prayer & meditation, and attending Mass. I believe I was quite happy then, with my friends and my job. However, I couldn’t say I was happy with my relationship with God. Continue reading…..

SYA Weekend

There have been over 400 young professionals who have taken this weekend and many have gone on to become active in the parish and have been able to find life partners to grow in their faith. All the talks are given by young adults who have taken previous weekends who are mentored by the more experienced members of the community.

The SYA group has weekly prayer meetings and masses every other Thursday as well as PayDay Prayer every other Friday. They also get together for outreach activities, community events, movies and get·togethers, parties and most of the things that young adults do – all within the spirit of our church.

SYA holds several weekend retreats in a year, as well as regular prayer meetings. We also participate in other parish activities, such as outreach programs, fund raisers, and community-building activities. We also help out other youth groups in the parish, such as Luke 18 and Antioch, in their activities.

The weekend retreats are usually held on the 2nd floor of the Parish Center. Though occasionally, due to scheduling conflicts, weekend retreats may be held at another venue. Please check with the Parish Office for the latest information for each retreat.

There is a scheduled set of activities during each day of the retreat. At the end of each day, participants may go home, and then return the next morning.

A participation fee is necessary to cover the cost of the food and materials during the weekend retreat. Please contact the Parish Office for the latest information for each retreat.
