As a fresh graduate from an all-girls catholic high school back in 2014, I believed I knew all the ropes, nooks and crannies of my faith. I had been taught all the scripture I needed to well equip me throughout my life. But it was a few months after graduation when I joined Antioch that I learned being faithful meant so much more than just knowing these things, it meant taking these seeds of faith and planting them wherever we go.
This is why being given the opportunity to take on larger roles in the Antioch community became a gift of faith. In being given opportunities to lead, I had instead learned to serve. It is within my community and being surrounded with people who had gone through the same faith journey as I did, did I learn how to help pave the road to God’s love for others.
Joining Antioch 3 years ago, I would have never expected to have become so involved, or rather, passionate about what our community was all about. Antioch is all about the love of community, more so, the love of coming together for God. In working to serve my peers and spreading my faith, did I truly know what it meant to be a follower of Christ. It has become my life motto now to love whenever I can— to reply to my call to love.
