The rite of dedication of Our Lady of the Angels (OLAS) of Porziuncula Chapel was held August 2, 2014 at the OLAS seminary, Bagbag, Novaliches, Quezon City. Presided over by Most Rev. Deogracias Iniguez, DD, Bishop Emeritus of Caloocan, and concelebrated by the Minister Provincial of the Order of Friars Minor, Rev. Fr. Lino Gregorio V. Redoblado, OFM or Fr. Greg as we know him, and also by Fr. Reu Jose C. Galoy, our parish priest, and friar-in-charge of the chapel construction. Also in attendance were other friar priests, and SSAP parishioners. As the introductory rites started, at the solemn entrance, the commentator said “As we gather today to celebrate the anniversary of the dedication of the little chapel in the plains of Assisi, so-called Saint Mary of the Angels of Porziuncula, we also solemnly dedicate this newly constructed chapel under the same title of the most Blessed Virgin Mary, whose maternal patronage and protection our Seraphic Father Saint Francis has entrusted the order.”

Then followed the hand over of the documents and key to the chapel by Fr. Reu to the bishop, the opening of the church doors by the bishop, the entrance into the church, the rite of blessing and sprinkling of water, the mass proper. The most solemn part of the rite – the prayer of dedication and the anointing of the altar – was done, and the depositing of the relic into the compartment of the altar. The relic was a part of rock from the little chapel of Saint Mary of the Angels of Porziuncula of Assisi while the relics of Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Clare of Assisi were attached at the foot of their respective statues.

The walls of the chapel were also anointed followed by the incensation of the altar and the oratory and the lighting of the altar and the church.
